All courses at Shearwater Sailing Club are run by expert RYA Yachtmaster Instructors and RYA Cruising Instructors.
A great place to learn to sail Woolverstone Marina offers all tide access to the East Coast Rivers and Southern North Sea, so a stop at the famous Butt and Oyster Pub at Pin Mill or visiting one of the many bars or restaurants at The Waterfront of Ipswich is often scheduled into a day's sailing.
Shearwater set passage plans are usually set and courses include visits to the unspoilt and Essex rivers of the Blackwater and Crouch or navigate their way up Walton Back Waters and anchor for lunch in a setting made famous by the book, We Didn’t Mean to Go to Sea, by Arthur Ransome.
The more challenging courses include sailing in the Thames Estuary where you can experience tricky navigation exercises, or over to Belgium and Holland only a day’s sail away.
